Since version May06 Dams2k4 has had an Auto-Updater. This was created to allow a large proportion of the non-technical userbase of Dams2k4 to recieve bugfixes and increased functionality to the script instantly with little or no configuration needed or even having to restart.

The methods for updating

There are at last count THREE different ways to run the Auto-Updater, here's a quick run-down of the different methods.

Update on Start

Everytime you open Dams2k4 the Auto-Update box will appear after a short wait asking whether you would like to run the update tool.

Update via Version Submenu

Select 'Check for Updates' in the Version Submenu of Dam2k4

Update via /updatenow

Using the alias /updatenow in any window will run the auto-updater

Using the Auto-Update facility

• Firstly Run the Updater using one of the methods above.
• The following box will appear
  

• Read it.
• This is IMPORTANT.
• Once you've read and UNDERSTOOD it, click yes to begin the Auto-Updater.
• Dams2k4 will check the internet for available updates.
• It will report 'x Updates available' or 'No updates available'
  

• If updates are found it will download and install these
• The Auto-updater will then check that all files are installed correctly.
• Lastly it will re-load all scripts
  

• Finished, Close the Info box if you wish
• OPTIONALLY - you may wish to run the Auto-Updater again to confirm you are upto date and that the updates were applied correctly.
